The teaching of furniture design studios provides the opporunity for undergraduate interior design students to focus their design aspirations in the realm of objects, furniture and lighting. The studios act as an incubator where students can engage in sustained and directed design research in an environment that fostered creativity and experimentation and granted access to a wide range of resources.

These activities seek to synthesize specific issues into new ways of practicing design by actively engaging in extending the parameters of furniture design practice and its interaction with the built environment, manufacturing industry, retail marketers and the public at large.
